Maintaining standards for AIIA members

The Product Regulation Strategy Group (PRSG) deals with issues relating to technical standards and regulations relevant to the ICT industry in Australia. The Group monitors and acts on behalf of AIIA members in all matters related to the introduction, supply and/or use of Information Technology or communications equipment in Australia.

PRSG objectives

The objectives of the PRSG are to:

  • monitor and evaluate all technical standards and regulation issues that impact or potentially impact AIIA members
  • favourably influence any such issues as appropriate on behalf of AIIA
  • report on activities and issues of major concern to AIIA members.

Current issues

Issues are largely determined by PRSG members, but also influenced by government policy, regulatory and other developments. The PRSG are currently working on the following issues:

Participation

The PRSG comprises representatives active in shaping standards and issues affecting the information industry. The PRSG meets on a regular basis to discuss current issues, consult with stakeholders and develop industry positions.

AIIA's representation in standards development

PRSG members are active in the ACMA's Communications Technical Regulation Advisory Committee (CTRAC) which advises the ACMA on technical regulation including EMC, EMR, Radio communications and Telecommunications.
